INSTALLATION

It is absolutely essential that these simple directions be carefully observed during installation:

(a) The Haros Homer must sit on the stand provided and be hard plumbed, therefore the bench must be of solid construction

(b) Regulations require a STOP TAP and NON RETURN VALVE to be included in the water line connection approximately 400 mm from the Inlet Valve No 5. The purpose of the STOP TAP is to cut off the water supply should repairs be necessary.

(c) Water Supply is connected to Inlet Valve 5.

(d) Before completing the assembly, Carefully remove all foreign matter, i.e., filings, fibre, grease, etc, from inside pipes, by letting water run through water connection pipe.

(e) Power connection is made by normal 10 amp, 3-pin plug to a power point. An extra safety provision is connecting the Haros through an earth leakage circuit breaker. The heating element inside the Boiler is rated at 1,800 watts.

(f) WARNING – DO NOT PLUG UNIT INTO ELECTRIC POWER  UNTIL BOILER HAS BEEN FILLED WITH WATER TO CORRECT LEVEL. (Water must be visible in glass tube at all times.)

TO OPERATE

Close Water Outlet No 3. Then open Steam Valve No 1 to release air inside the unit, as water enters to take its place. Open Stop Tap and Water Inlet Valve No. 5. When water reaches upper level of glass tube close Valve No. 5. Water Inlet Valve No 5 now remains closed while unit is in use, and only opened when more water is required to refill the boiler.

Connect Unit to power supply, switch on, and in approximately 10 minutes, the steam will begin to be generated. At this point, close Steam Valve so that internal pressure will rise to 180 – 200  kilopascals, as indicated on the Pressure Gauge.

If the Boiler is switched off for any length of time, repeat procedure of opening Steam Valve No 1when turning power back on.

THE HOMER MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE STAND PROVIDED.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

1. No Pressure.

(a) Check if switch is on.

(b) OVER TEMPERATURE CUT-OUT BUTTON – If Homer does not heat, check the white Reset Button when the unit is cold. The Reset Button is located in the aluminium element cap at the bottom of the unit.

(c) Check Fuses.

If in order have your electrician first check the element.

2. No Water Visible in Gauge Glass. (Switch off Power)

This means one of two things:

(a) Insufficient Water;

(b) Too much Water in Boiler.

Now to determine fault:

(a) Insufficient Water.
Open Water Inlet Valve No.5 and observe if water rises in glass tube. If so, fill unit to correct level and turn Water Inlet Valve off.

(b) Too Much Water.
If Pressure Gauge No 2 registers to limit (400kpa),  unit has completely filled with water and is registering the water main pressure. This means that Inlet Valve No 5 has not been turned off properly.

To rectify this, first place receptacle or bucket under  Water Outlet No 6 Valve pipe and begin to drain the excess water out. If water does not run, remove lid from top of unit and press Schrader Valve Core down (this looks like a pin head in the 5/16 hexagon casing located to the back of the cylinder) and let the water run out until you can see the water visibly in the gauge glass.
Then turn off the Water Outlet Valve (6), replace lid and switch power on.

If the fault is not rectified – return to supplier.

THE HOMER MUST BE INSTALLED ON THE STAND PROVIDED.

SERVICE

We recommend that Units should be serviced regularly, every twelve months.

When changing an in-line filter, disconnect the machine and run at least 4 litres of water through the filter before reconnecting the machine. This is to ensure that the filter is thoroughly rinsed of all loose particles. Remember, what goes into your machine usually stays in there.

NOTE

Water Gauge nuts and Gland nuts on all valves, should be slightly tightened from time to time when unit is cold.

When ordering spare parts distinctly state that it is for a Haros Homer Model 195.

Cappuccino can be made from expressed, percolated or powder coffee.  The coffee can be either added to the milk before frothing or placed in a cup and the milk added after frothing.  A sprinkle of Milo on top gives you a great Cappuccino.
